The Shark PowerDetect is the outlier at $550 to $800, priced for its carpet detection rather than its feature list.

Where the premium goes. With roborock you are buying brush geometry, LiDAR mapping that survives furniture moves, and a mop. With the PowerDetect you are buying carpet detection and a chassis that does not strand itself on a rug edge. Neither premium buys more raw suction than the money would get you from eufy.

Running costs are the part buyers miss. roborock's self-empty docks take disposable bags, which is a small permanent bill — in a heavy-shedding home, a bag every few weeks. Why does the brush design decide this?

Because long hair does not defeat a robot by weight. It defeats it by wrapping. A bristle roller gives every strand something to catch on, and within a few runs in a shedding household the hair has spun itself into a dense rope around the axle and end caps.
