The short answer: to make soil more acidic, the reliable long-term method is elemental sulfur — soil bacteria convert it to sulfuric acid over a few months, giving a lasting drop in pH. - Split large corrections. Never apply more than about 2 pounds per 100 square feet at once; spread bigger jobs across a season in two or three applications.
- Work it into the top few inches where the bacteria live, rather than leaving it on the surface.

Faster ways to make soil more acidic for an existing plant
